Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) is one of Sydney’s most visited museums, Museum is committed to being a world leader in maritime history, sharing the national maritime story across Australia and providing an immersive and surprising experience.   • APS Level 3, $54,811 to $60,342 p.a. plus 15.4% superannuation and APS benefits


  • Ongoing full–time

The Role

This role will assist in the delivery of a digitisation and data capture project to improve access to and use of the museum’s collections for both internal and external collection discovery, management and online initiatives. Create digital content through research, cataloguing, blogs and other digital publications and digital media. Improve digital content on the collection through the creation of digital media and data clean-up of object and related people, events and sites records in TMS (CMIS) in line with the digitisation strategy.

The successful applicant will have :-
  • Good understanding of the role and functions of the Registration Section in a major museum.
  • High level of skill and understanding of the correct practices and procedures for the safe handling, packing, movement and storage of a wide range of historic material.
  • High level of skill and understanding of collection documentation including the use of computerised collection management systems, with particular knowledge and understanding of location records.         
  • Supervisory ability and experience, including the ability to train staff and volunteers in correct methods for handling, packing and moving historic material.

Selection for this position will be made on the basis of relative merit which will be assessed against each item of the selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered for short listing by the Selection Committee. As part of the selection process the selection committee may invite candidates to undertake psychometric test, you should advise the selection committee if you have any special needs. Psychometric tests may be used as the initial short-listing test or later in the selection process. Some tests are very short while others may take one or more hours.
