Top 5 tips for business growth

Hello and Happy New Year!

At this time of year we’re bombarded with advice and tips on New Year’s Resolutions, fresh starts, and reinvention. It can be a bit overwhelming. But what if we keep it simple? What if we focus on key areas that are guaranteed to make your business better in 2019? Maybe then we would stand a better chance of quietening the many different voices, pressures and responsibilities and get a bit of clarity!

So here are my Top 5 tips for growing your business in 2019:

1 – Start out with the end in mind

Where do you want your business to be this time next year? What do you really want to achieve?
Think of the end in mind and make a plan to get there… a written plan… listing your goals for 2019… take time every week to track and rate your progress of working towards executing your plan, getting results with achieving your end goals.

2 – Make time to work ON your business… not just IN your business.

Don’t let your business run you… take charge! This organising cannot be done in your functional day to day role. You need to get your head out of the ‘doing’ and embrace your primary role as business owner. Make time each week to plan and shape your business model, processes and systems for measuring and achieving consistent good results.

3 – Know your output capacity and growth trajectory

How many chargeable productive output hours does you and your business actually have forecasted? Lay out the 2019 calendar and first schedule key family commitments… school terms, holidays, birthdays etc… now schedule you covering any key team members holiday time and your functional tasks and responsibilities… now include time for working ON your business and growing your network. Know your business capacity, value and contribution. Now how much can you grow without increasing overheads? Does this meet your 2019 budget and goals?
